Vehicle dealer fined for not posting buyers guides

MACON -- A Hinesville car dealer was among 25 others sanctioned at a Feb. 20 Georgia Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers special meeting for licensees to appeal.
Auto Super Center, Hinesville was fined $1,000 for four instances of failure to post Federal Trade Commission Buyer's Guides on each vehicle offered for sale.
It was among the lesser fines issued during the day, when the most apparent violation was for failing to apply for a titles in purchasers' with 30 days of the sale.
The worst case reported was that of Affordable Cars of Tucker, which was fined $78,000 for 78 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchaser's name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale; and 78 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date.
The board, which is under the Secretary of State's Office meets monthly.
