National and local news outlets have reported that military vehicles and aircraft will be on full display in tomorrow’s July 4th celebration on the mall in the nation’s capital.

Department of Defense public affairs staff confirmed to the Courier Wednesday that two M1A1 Abrams tanks and two Bradley Fighting Vehicles, along with some support personnel from Fort Stewart, are in Washington D.C. ahead of President Donald Trump’s Independence Day spectacle.

An Abrams tank weighs more than 60 tons, according to military.com. The Bradley is a “lightly armored, fully tracked transport vehicle,” according to the website.

In addition, aircraft, like Air Force One, will participate in the massive event.  Precision pilots from the Navy’s Blue Angels are expected to perform a fly over.

The president is expected to give a speech at the Lincoln Memorial as part of the celebration, according to cnn.com. News outlets have reported the president’s Independence Day spectacle has its critics, who warn the planned spectacle politicizes the holiday, and supporters tout it as a salute to U.S. service men and women.
