The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce hosted their Progress through People Luncheon on April 15 where they recognized the Liberty County STAR students and their respective teachers.

The Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia’s highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development. To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three part SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.

The 2021 STAR students and teachers are:

•Bradwell Institute student Diego Resto, who was also chosen as a Liberty Life Top Shining Senior, and his teacher Carol Corwin who recently retired. Resto was also recognized for being the LCSS winner.

• First Preparatory Christian Academy student Deborah Adoma Sarpong, also chosen as a Liberty Life Top Shining Senior, and her teacher Dr. Charles Canup.

• Liberty County High School student Devi Patel and her teacher Sarah Hein.
