City candidate forum to be held Friday evening

A community town hall with the candidates for this year’s Hinesville City Council elections will be held Friday from 5–7 p.m.

Lady Charie will be the moderator for the event, which will be between 524 and 526 Azalea Street in Hinesville.

A question and answer session will be held from 5:45–7 p.m. with the candidates. 

Candidates are, or mayor: Karl Riles and

Liston Singletary III; District 1: Marcello Page, Diana F. Reid (incumbent) and Alan White; District 2: Robert E. Cunningham and Jason Floyd (incumbent); District 3: Vicky (Haynes) Nelson (incumbent) and Arthur Nixon; District 4: Mike Alamo, Dexter Newby and Joe Nicholson Jr.; and District 5: Henry L. Covington, Eric L. Hollis and Jose Antonio Ortiz.

Attendees are asked to bring their lawn chairs and food will be available for a $5 donation. A voter registration drive will take place from 5–7 p.m. at the event.

The general election will be held Nov. 7 from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. at the Charles Shuman Recreation Center. Early voting will be held October 16–November 3, Monday–Friday, from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. each day at the Historic Liberty County Courthouse. Saturday voting will be held Oct. 21 and Oct. 28.

The final day to register to vote in the 2023 general election is Oct. 10.
