Council rejects meeting change

An attempt to push the Hinesville City Council's second monthly meeting to a later time was voted down by councilmembers Thursday.
A motion made by councilman Keith Jenkins and seconded by councilman Charles Frasier to move the second meeting of each month from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. was blocked by three "no" votes from Bobby Ryon, David Anderson and Kenneth Shaw.
According to Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas, the time shift would have been temporary to gauge whether attendance would increase. He said it would have become permanent if the change created "greater public participation."
