County commission talks roads

County engineer Trent Long reported the following status of county roads to the Liberty County Board of Commissioners during its regular meeting earlier this month:
Roads
Devereaux Road: Layout and design of this project is under way. Additional rights of way and drainage easements will be required.
The exact locations will be determined in the construction design phase. Long said a slight realignment in areas where additional rights of way are required is being considered.
Jones Creek Bridge:  Although there’s been much debate about this topic, the condition of Jones Creek Bridge remains the same — safe. Long reported the project is being “coordinated with Thomas and Hutton” for development.
Japonica Road drainage:  Bidding for the project is under way and copies of the document are open for public review, Long said.
Liberty Independent Troop Park Maintenance Building: The project is under way. Nearby water and sewer mains have been located and identified.
Cherokee Rose Country Club Drainage: Installation of a drainage pipe along hole No. 3 is under way.
Silver Hill Road and Strickland Road: The design phase is complete for both projects. The bidding process is reportedly under way.
Interstate Paper Boat Ramp: The drawings and lease agreement are complete. The project is under way to provide boat access for local residents.
Rivers Road and Youmans Road: Long said he provided assistance for the completion of these construction projects to the sales tax office.
