Couple arrested in death of child

Two Riceboro residents have been charged with murder and cruelty to a child in connection with the death of a 3-year-old last week.
“This is a bad one,” Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Keith Moran said Monday.
Andrea Wilson, 35, and her boyfriend, Corey Brown, 38, both of Riceboro, are in Liberty County Regional Jail following their arrest on Jan. 19. The arrests came after an autopsy report Friday stated Prince Davis Jr., 3, died of multiple blunt force trauma and malnutrition.
According to Moran, EMS was called to Wilson’s home at about 7 p.m. Jan. 16 and found the child to be unresponsive. In turn, EMTs called a deputy and the department started an investigation. The child was pronounced dead at Liberty Regional Medical Center about 8 p.m.
Moran said the child was a distant cousin of Wilson’s.
“We do know the child had been living with Ms. Wilson for about 10 months,” the deputy said.
The initial incident report said the child was living with the suspect while his mother was unable to care for him. But investigators are releasing few details about the current whereabouts or condition of the mother.
“She’s not living in the area,” Moran said. “I can’t speculate because we don’t have any information we can release.”
Both Wilson and Brown were denied bond Monday, but may appeal to a Superior Court judge.
Moran said additional charges are likely.
