Defendants enter not guilty pleas

On Feb. 10 the following two cases were in court for arraignment hearings. Both parties entered their plea of not guilty.


Brett Salisbury II

Brett Salisbury II, was indicted for two counts of arson in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, possession of tools of the crime and criminal damage to property in the second degree. According to Hinesville Fire Department Captain Robert Kitchings, the Hinesville fire and police department arrested 30-year old Brett Salisbury, Friday, April 19 without incident for the fire at Jungle Jake’s Hobbies & Games on Wednesday, March 27 and an incident occurring at Gamers Only on Saturday, April 13. Salisbury is alleged to have attempted to start a fire at the Gamers store located on West General Screven Way in a local shopping center. Kitchings said the fire in the Gamers Only store burned itself out before it could cause any damage.


Kathryn Fox

Former Coastal Courier General Manager Kathryn Fox was indicted for five counts of theft by taking. Fox is accused of embezzling more than $200,000 from the company during a four-year period, from 2014 to 2017, based on an external audit ordered by the company. Fox was placed on administrative leave in November 2017. She was fired Dec. 7, 2017.  

After almost a year, Fox was arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Taskforce Dec. 22, 2018 after exiting a business in Bluffton, S.C. Fox was brought to the Liberty County jail on Dec. 26. 

Bond was initially set at $100,000 but later reduced at a second bond hearing. She is currently out on bond.
