A driver ran her vehicle into the Liberty County Annex Wednesday morning, the public building that happens to house the county’s vehicle registration office.

At around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, a driver in a Jeep Cherokee headed northbound on South Main Street in downtown Hinesville left the roadway and struck an unoccupied Patriot Jeep parked in front of the Liberty County Annex building, according to Hinesville Police Department traffic investigator A. Brant. The driver then jumped a grassy median and continued to plow into the base of a column at the front of the Annex.

County officials immediately called in an architect to the Annex, to begin checking if any structural damage was caused to the building.

The woman driving the Jeep Cherokee was taken to a local hospital for a medical check-up. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
