Richard Watkins of Midway was named a presidential scholar at Armstrong Atlantic State University following the spring term.
The chemistry major achieved the designation by earning 4.0 grade point averages in two consecutive semesters, according to a letter and certificate he received from the school’s president, Dr. Linda Bleicken.
Watkins, son of Pat Watkins and Jan Williams of Midway, is a junior and is helping with research being done by the Savannah school’s chemistry department this summer.
