The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents voted Tuesday to allow Armstrong Atlantic State University to shorten its name to Armstrong State University. The name modification will take affect at the beginning of the new fiscal year, which starts July 1. Armstrong is building a new 21,000-square-foot Armstrong Liberty Center on Memorial Drive in Hinesville. The new campus is scheduled to open in summer 2015.
