MOUNT VERNON — Magistrate Judge Amy L. Owens of Hinesville was one of six new members of the Brewton-Parker College Board of Trustees welcomed to the board at the Jan. 18 meeting in the Hall of Fame Room of the Student Activities Center.
Owens, whose term runs through 2011, is an attorney with Osteen-Osteen in Hinesville.
After earning a bachelor of arts in political science from Campbellsville University, she earned a juris doctorate at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Law. She and her husband, Charles E. Owens, are members of First Baptist Church of Hinesville. He is pastor of the church.
“I am honored to serve such a fine institution,” Owens said. “As a trustee, I hope to continue to uphold the great values and traditions of Brewton-Parker College.”
Also beginning five-year terms are: Gilbert Westberry of Swainsboro, Terry Gene Carter of Brunswick, state Rep. Greg Morris (R-Vidalia) and Anthony Samples of Kingston. Dr. Clifton “Cliff” Morris of Dublin is filling an unexpired term left by former trustee Judge Howard Cook. Morris’ term ends at the end of 2007.
While Brewton-Parker’s main campus is in Mount Vernon. It also operates satellite campuses, including one in Flemington.
