Faculty shows heritage for Black History Month

Several teachers at Joseph Martin Elementary School participated in the school's recent African Heritage Dress Day.
In an attempt to show students some of the attire worn in Africa, staff members dressed in special clothing.
The day aimed at peaking interest in students so they research to learn more about the history and contributions made by African-Americans.
Third grade students began Black History Month at JME by sharing the accomplishments of famous black Americans.
In 1926, February was established as Black History Month throughout the US. Staff and students at JME have been reflecting on the history and contributions of African Americans during the morning announcements.
