Free online virtual school enrollment open for 2013=14

Georgia Connections Academy, an accredited virtual K-12 school, has opened enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year.

“We are enrolling 1,000 additional students across all grade levels for the coming academic year,” Principal Heather Robinson said. “We have a waiting list as we open enrollment, so we encourage parents to get their applications in now.”

Enrollment is limited by the State Board of Education to 3,000 students for 2013-14. Parents can enroll their child online at:

The academy is also hosting parent information sessions across the state to give more details about the program. The closest to our area is in Macon from 6:30-8 p.m. March 27 at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Macon, 4035 Sheraton Dr.

You can get more information by calling the school at 800-382-6010. But Robinson encourages families considering virtual school to attend an information session because it may not be a good fit for some.

“Virtual school requires parents to make a commitment to be involved in their child’s education,” she said. “At our information sessions, we let families know what they can expect in the virtual school setting, and what it takes to succeed.”

Prospective students and their parents can also learn about Connections Academy via many social networks; Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Virtual Learning Connections, the Connections Academy blog for interested families.
