STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University dedicated its new Military Resource Center during a ceremony Feb. 22 at the campus’ Nessmith-Lane Conference Center.
The center is designed to assist members of the military, veterans and their spouses as they transition from military service to the university.
A military-outreach coordinator will be on staff to assist those students with coordinating academic advisement, counseling, disability accommodations and pursuing the G.I. Bill’s financial aid for education.
The center also will feature a computer lab and lounge solely for the use of military and veteran students and their spouses.
The lounge will provide a place to watch television, play video games or relax in the company of other military who have shared similar experiences and are pursuing a higher-education degree.
