The Health Squad, comprised of associates in the Liberty College & Career Academy Healthcare Science Program, recently made a presentation to elementary-school students.
The Health Squad is to promotes optimal and healthy lifestyles for school-age children. The presentations are designed to limit the anxiety when encountering health-care professionals. Healthcare science students in grades 10-12 visited Jordye Bacon Elementary and Waldo Pafford Elementary and made entertaining and dramatic presentations using puppetry.
The project allows high-school students to learn by giving service to others. Elementary-school students are targeted to lay a foundation for health principles that promote wellness. The students’ talents are used for acting, singing, dancing, using puppets and writing skits.
The squad is under the direction of Pamela Scott, RN, LCCA healthcare science instructor.
