Bradwell Institute’s Project Success Program took 11 students to Button Gwinnett Elementary School one day last winter.
Project Success is an early intervention program targeting at-risk youth.
According to BI’s Project Success coordinator, DeAndre’ Davis, this was the fourth field trip students have taken to local elementary schools since September.
The focus of these trips is to help the students in the program increase their sense of self worth and boost their morale by giving them a sense of accomplishment.
Davis said the elementary teachers have had nothing but praise for the students.
“The overall consensus is that the PS students have been a tremendous help in the classroom, helping with reading assessments and oral reading. Some elementary students had the opportunity to benefit from one-on-one tutoring from the high school students, which they enjoyed tremendously,” Davis said.
