Thirty-one students were invited to Midway Middle's First 9 Weeks Accelerated Reader Ice Cream Social Picnic on Oct. 24.

The picnic was a reward for those students who earned 25 points and an 80 percent average in the AR program.  Midway's AR theme is Summer All Year Round.

Party-goers were treated to three different flavors of ice cream as well as all of the toppings necessary to make a great sundae.  Students sat at tables decorated for a summer picnic, complete with red and white checked tablecloths and ocean creatures.

During the party, students played several games of picnic bingo.  Each winner received a fish-shaped bag of jellybeans and was entered into a drawing for an iPod speaker.  The winner of the device was Khaleed Barrett, a seventh grader.

Partygoers were also able to be the first to spend their AR points in the Accelerated Reader store.
