LCHS grad earns degree, others get honors

Tiara Louise Howard, a 2012 graduate of Liberty County High School recently graduated from Morris College of Sumter, SC.

She earned a bachelor’s of science degree in mathematics with minor in computer information systems. She graduated magnum cum laude on May 6 at the Sumter Civic Center.

GSU scholarship

ATLANTA — Ciara Frisbie of Ludowici, a Georgia State University student, was recognized for receiving the Mildred W. Seydel Scholarship in Communication at the honors night of the university’s College of Arts and Sciences in April.

GSU has more than 53,000 students.

Honor society

BATON ROUGE — Sandra Martinez of Fort Stewart was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, which calls itself the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Martinez was initiated at University of Maryland University College.

She is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.
