Liberty County School System schools will remain closed for the rest of the week and will resume Monday Oct. 17.

A press release from the school system reads:

"The Liberty County School System has currently assessed all facilities as well as current community conditions for our LCSS staff and families. General conditions around Hinesville seem to be getting a little better. Still a good number of stop lights out in Hinesville, Walthourville and Midway. Lots of power lines still down throughout the county, majority of which in the Midway area. Many folks are still without power and/or water. Cell service throughout the county is still hit or miss depending on the area.

As a result of our findings, the Liberty County School System will remain closed for the remainder of this week. Schools will resume operation on Monday, Oct. 17th."

According to a recorded message from the distrtict, maintenance, grounds crew personnel and custodians are to report Tuesday Oct. 11, if possible.

The district's website previously read that schools will reopen on Wednesday. It has since been updated to reflect the new information.
