Liberty Elementary school teacher Lela Dickens recently was surprised at her home by the Bright Ideas Prize Patrol, which issued her a check for nearly $1,500. Coastal Electric Cooperative gives away $2,000 grants each year to teachers with bright, innovative classroom ideas. Dickens wrote the school-wide grant for an aquarium rescue project. She said she will use the prize money to teach children about coastal environments and keeping waterways clean.
