Five Liberty County High School FFA members recently competed in Area 6 career-development events at Ware County High School in Waycross
Jeremiah Johnson-Glenn, Kayla Dargan, Mallory Roberts and Yakira Bell competed in the senior (grades 10-12) nursery-landscape CDE. Akevah McBride participated in the discussion-meet CDE.
Dargan led the way, followed closely by Roberts, for the senior nursery-landscape team. The students were responsible for learning 100 plants, 26 tools, 30 diseases and disorders, as well as studying for a written exam, landscape practicum and a problem-solving quiz. Liberty County placed fourth based on the combined scores for the plant and tool identification, disorder identification, quiz and exam.
McBride was responsible for researching various “hot topics” in agriculture and participating in a discussion with other FFA members from around the area about each of the topics.
