The first five eighth-grade cohorts of the Liberty County School System’s Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen Scholars program signed their contracts Sept. 30 — which was designated as REACH Georgia Statewide Signing Day — committing themselves to excellence, program requirements and graduation from high school.

Starting from eighth grade, REACH Scholars are paired with a mentor and academic coach through high school. They must maintain certain requirements like maintaining good grades, attendance and good behavior. Those who complete the program and graduate high school are awarded a scholarship of $10,000 toward a HOPE-eligible institution in Georgia.
