JEKYLL ISLAND — Two members of the Bradwell Institute SkillsUSA Georgia team were recognized a the Fall Leadership Conference on Sept. 17-18 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.
Gina Chester and Jeffery Silvey were recognized for scoring 85 percent or better on a Statesman’s Awards quiz. They are among only 140 of the members who scored that well.
Nearly 1,000 student members, advisors, presenters and alumni from 100 chapters across the state joined together to celebrate the national theme, SkillsUSA: Connecting the Opportunities, at the conference. Members were involved throughout the conference in activities that allowed them the opportunity to increase leadership abilities, professionalism, community service and the aptitude toward careers. Activities were organized and conducted by state officers, eight students from different parts of the state, and two SkillsUSA national officers.
The conference began Thursday afternoon with planned recreation, Statesman Award testing and visits with business and educational leaders from across the state. During the next three days, there were workshops, general sessions and speakers to motivate the students, as well as social activities to let them get to know each other.
