Two Long County High School students recently advanced to the finals of the Canoochee EMC Washington Youth Tour Essay Competition.
Christian Dasher and Yilnette Nunez-Morales submitted their 500-word essays to a panel that judged their topics on subject knowledge, originality, composition, neatness and grammar. The students’ essays were facilitated by LCHS English teacher Sabrina Caines.
Caines said the two students were interviewed by Canoochee EMC judges on March 16.
The competition was open to students ages 16 and older at both private and public schools, including Bryan County High School, Claxton High School, Faith Baptist Christian Academy, Pinewood Christian Academy, Tattnall County High School and Long County High School.  She said that any junior who was at least 16 years old was eligible to enter the contest.
