The Long County Parent Teacher Organization recently presented a check for $7,000 to Smiley Elementary School Principal David Edwards during the group’s meeting at SES.
According to Edwards, the money will go toward renovated playground equipment at the school.
“We are very appreciative of our parents and teachers who have supported our fundraisers. Current students and future students at Smiley will enjoy our new playground equipment for many years,” Edwards said.
A Parent University Session also was conducted during the PTO meeting. During the session, parents and students worked on activities to help the students prepare for end-of-year student assessments, Milestone end-of-grade testing and student learning-objective tests. The prep work was provided to assist students in kindergarten through third grade. The students also received tips on how to take standardized tests and be successful.
In addition to the work, snacks were provided to all present.
