Long County High School seniors may have started a tradition Monday.

They paraded the halls of Smiley Elementary School in a Senior Walk. Elementary students lined the halls to congratulate and encourage the seniors for making it through high school.

"It’s important to inspire kids to reach the point of graduation," said LCHS senior Love Turner, the daughter of Joey and Sandie Turner.

"This is for the seniors to realize how far they’ve come and to help them celebrate this milestone," LCHS Principal David Edwards added. "This also inspires our elementary students. ..."

Most students gave high-fives and cheered as the 12th-graders walked through the school that many attended as elementary students.

"I attended Smiley Elementary," said senior Caitlyn Wingate, the daughter of Mike and Kelly Wingate. "It would have been cool to see seniors walking through."

Graduation itself was Friday evening at Veterans Stadium.
