Long County High School’s work-based learning students of the month for August are Deliza Vasquez and Skyler Ashley.

Vasquez works at LCHS as an administrative assistant. Her job consists of answering telephones, writing students passes to class and filing materials for Michael Taylor, an assistant principal at LCHS.

Vasquez is in her second year as an administrative assistant.

“Deliza is a valued member of our office staff, her communication and interpersonal skills have gotten much better over the last year,” Taylor said. “And one of Deliza’s new job responsibilities is to now be a mentor for other work-based learning students working in the high school office.”  

Ashley works for Norman Realty and Management Company in Hinesville, where she is learning the real estate business.

Her job includes billing, security deposit transactions and customer service.

One of her supervisor’s, Janet Hartwell, said of Ashley, “Skylar is always positive and willing to learn. She never says ‘I can’t.’  Skylar also works well with customers and her co-workers. Skylar sets an excellent example.”  

Skylar’s other supervisor, Julie Dawson, said, “Skylar is a very positive employee, always going above and beyond for the betterment of the business.”
