The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce’s Progress Through People Luncheon on Thursday will present Liberty County’s STAR students and teachers.

It will be at noon at the Performing Arts Center, 2140 E. Oglethorpe Highway, Flemington, sponsored by Georgia Power and Savannah Technical College.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition honors students and teachers for Liberty County High School and Bradwell Institute. The Professional Association of Georgia Educators’ program honors high-achieving students and the teachers who they select. To be nominated, STAR students must be seniors, have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent of their class.

The students and their teachers are honored by their schools and then compete for school system, regional and state recognition.

The Chamber is the local sponsor of the program. “We are honored to be able to recognize the STAR students and teachers each year. The accomplishments and dedication of the young individuals awarded the STAR designation are truly inspiring,” said Leah Poole, Chamber CEO.

The luncheon will be catered by Bare Bones Catering. The cost is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for others. RSVP by Tuesday by calling 912-368-4445 or emailing operations@libertycounty.org.
