MACON — Zombies, Armadillos, Cockroaches and the Kudzu are among suggestions for a mascot of the new Middle Georgia State College.

The Telegraph of Macon reports that they’re among more than 750 suggestions submitted for consideration for the soon-to-be consolidated institution.

Macon State College and Middle Georgia College are expected to officially merge in January.

Suggestions submitted through a June online survey for the new name and mascot also include Ravens, Wolfpack and Pterodactyls.

Officials said several people wanted to merge the current Macon State and Middle Georgia College mascots — Blue Storm and Warrior, respectively — to create names like Storm Warriors or Storming Warriors.

A leadership team from both Macon State and Middle Georgia College is expected to review the suggestions and recommend 10 finalists for another survey.
