Armstrong Atlantic State University student and Midway student Robert Rancourt was awarded a Partnership for Reform in Science and Mathematics scholarship.
Rancourt was one of 16 AASU students to receive the scholarship.
Ranging between $1,000-$2,000, the scholarships are awarded to science and mathematics education students who demonstrate academic excellence.
“You are on the frontier of an effort to increase the number of students graduating in the areas of mathematics and science education,” AASU President Thomas Z. Jones told the honorees during a reception on Oct. 23.
The PRISM Satellite Scholarships are awarded through funding by a National Science Foundation grant that seeks to improve pre-service teacher education in the areas of mathematics and science.
The scholarships are designed to increase the number and diversity of students majoring in science and mathematics education.
