The Midway Middle School Builders Club, an affiliate of the Kiwanis Club of Liberty County, held its sixth annual Trick-or-Treating for Canned Goods event at the school Oct. 26-29. The students collected 1,094 items to be donated to Manna House in conjunction with Georgia Power’s canned food drive.
The Builders Club used money from its treasury to buy candy so students who gave a non-perishable item could have one piece of candy for each item donated. The homerooms competed to see who could bring in the most items. Samuel Richards’ eighth-grade homeroom won the challenge with 141 items.
