Scholarship program announced

Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen Georgia is a public-private, needs-based mentor and scholarship program. REACH Scholars are paired with a mentor and academic coach through high school. Scholars must maintain good grades (2.5 GPA in core courses), behavior and attendance through middle and high school.

Students who complete the program get $10,000 scholarships in addition to any other grant or scholarship the students receive. Liberty County School System became a REACH district in March and has since selected five REACH Scholars from the current eighth-graders.

While the Georgia Student Finance Commission provides funding for the cost of administering the program, sponsors provide most of each REACH Scholars’ financial award.

To donate to LCSS program, go to www.liberty.k12.ga.us or obtain a pledge card at the board office.

The donations are tax-deductible. For more information, contact Torri Jackson at tjackson@liberty.k12.ga.us or 912-876-2161.
