Scholarships offered to local students

Applications are available in the guidance office at Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High School for scholarships awarded by Nu Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
To be eligible for the “historically black college or university scholarship” in the amount of $1,000, a student must be a high school senior at Bradwell or Liberty, have an 80 or better average, plan to attend a historically black college or university, write a 500-word essay on a given topic and submit a candidate biographical form.
To be eligible for the Fashionetta scholarship in the amount of $1,000, a student must be a high school senior, have participated in the chapter’s Fashionetta pageant, plan to attend an institution of higher learning, write a 500-word essay on a given topic and submit a candidate biographical form.
To be eligible for the $1,000 general scholarship, a student must be a high school senior at Bradwell or Liberty, have an 80 or better average, plan to attend an institution of higher learning, write a 500-word essay on a given topic and submit a candidate biographical form.
Essays and biographical forms must be submitted to the guidance office by 3 p.m. April 4.
The scholarship committee of Nu Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. will assemble an objective panel of judges to evaluate the essays. A number will be assigned to each applicant’s essay. The panel will be comprised of school representatives and members of the community.  The scholarship winners will be announced during awards night or notified by mail prior to graduation.
