On Sept. 16, the first of six sessions of PASSport (parents assuring student success) began with an introduction of the program. The evening’s theme was “Winning with a Positive Attitude.”
The workshops are to help parents become involved in improving their children’s study habits at home.  The parents will also learn simple ways to guide their children to achieve better grades and test scores.
In the subsequent five weeks workshops were offered to Joseph Martin parents covering; structuring a homework environment, study skills, homework and note-taking, teaching reading skills and helping children prepare for tests.
The workshops were led by Cathy Atkins, JME parent involvement coordinator, Mesh Morris, JME curriculum coordinator, and Robin Snider, JME counselor.
