The Liberty County school nutrition program will open Aug. 5 to serve breakfast and lunch to children.
Free and reduced-price meal applications are available at every school office. One application per household is necessary. Children will be served breakfast and lunch with their last school year meal status (free, reduced or paid) for the first 30 days of school or until a new application is turned in — whichever comes first. Parents are encouraged to complete an application as quickly as possible. Applications may be downloaded at www.liberty.k12.ga.us/Nutrition/forms.asp.
Applications can be filled out anytime throughout the school year to reflect changes in household income. Applications can be turned into school cafeteria clerks or homeroom teachers. They also may be mailed to: Liberty County school nutrition program, 200 Bradwell St., Hinesville, GA 31313.
MyLunchMoney.com will be available as an alternative way to put money on children’s meal accounts. The program can be accessed by going to www.myLunchMoney.com and following the prompts. Payments can be made through a secured site with debit or credit cards. Users may choose a one-time payment or an automatic pre-payment option. A $1.95 transaction fee will be applied. A student’s school, grade, birth date and student ID number are required to set up payment.
“Offer vs. serve” meals will be available at all elementary, middle and high schools. Pre-K is excluded. “Offer vs. serve” allows each child to choose three or more items per meal. For example, a child may choose an entrée, a vegetable and milk; or an entrée, vegetable, fruit, bread and milk. Students are encouraged to take at least one item from each of the five food groups. Students may decline one of the four required food items offered for breakfast.

School meal prices are as follows:
• Elementary schools
Breakfast: $1 regular price; 30 cents reduced-price
Lunch: $1.50 regular price; 40 cents reduced-price
• Middle and high schools
