The Nu Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority presented five $1,000 scholarships to local students.
A 500-word essay on various topics was judged in four categories.

Recipients
The winner of the Historical Black College/University Scholarship was Kirsten Maria Pratt of Liberty County High School.
The Fashionetta Scholarship was awarded to Alyssa Milton of Liberty County High School.
Two scholarships were presented in the general category. The winners were Heather Williams and Jennifer Maldonado, both of Bradwell Institute.
The final scholarship, in the Adult Continuing Education Category, was given to Roudine Douglas who is attending Savannah State University.
The AKA’s extended “a very heartfelt thank you” to the community for the continuous support received during the past 25 years.
Members said they are looking forward to serving Liberty County in the future.
