Last month, Ricardo Toledo’s Spanish II class at Long County High School won a gold medal for Most Authentic Exhibit at the International Festival in Statesboro.
Toledo’s students portrayed life in Mexico during the event. Abigail Gonzalez and Maria Cordova wore folklore dresses, Linda Stephens baked an Epiphany cake, Nickolas Garcia joined in with the New Guadalajara Mariachi Band, and Elizabeth Lowe created a Day of the Dead altar.
“I’m very proud of the students’ efforts, and I also am thankful to all of the people who helped us,” Toledo said.
