The STAR Student and Teacher for Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High School were announced earlier today at a Progress Through People Luncheon, held at Connection Church.
BI student Jordan Graham was recognized as the STAR student from her school, and she chose her social studies teacher Mike Bell for STAR Teacher. Megan Powell is the STAR Student from LCHS, and she chose William Parker, english department head, as STAR Teacher.
Graham described Bell as an inspiring teacher. She said he was very organized and made her want to be organized. Bell said that Graham is an outstanding student, who has always pushed herself and has bright goals.
Powell said that when she came to Liberty in tenth grade, Parker’s class made her feel comfortable—like it was home. She described him as a kind, considerate, dedicated person who loves his subject matter. Parker said that Powell is everything one would want a student to be. He described her as both thoughtful and thought provoking, which benefitted everyone in the class.
Graham and Bell were selected to represent the Liberty County School System in the region competition, where they will compete against other districts for the region honor. Region winners and their STAR Teachers will be invited to Atlanta to compete for the state title, scholarships and awards.
