At noon on Nov. 15, Savannah Technical College will dedicate the Liberty Campus library in honor of Glenda Giddens, a long-time staff member who died last year after battling cancer.
Giddens served Savannah Technical College in Liberty County for 25 years, putting herself at the forefront of operations during critical points of Savannah Tech’s history. She provided leadership for the college when it first opened its storefront operation on General Screven Way in 1989.
Giddens’ support for education continued in 2004 with the opening of the new campus on Airport Road, and the SFC Paul R. Smith Army Education Center on Fort Stewart.
“Giddens had a special place in her heart for students, the military and their families,” Savannah Tech’s criminal justice department head Vic Burke said. “She was committed to providing educational opportunities for all, and served as a mentor to those who may have lost hope. She cared, that’s the best way I would describe Mrs. Glenda Giddens.”
The campus is on Airport Road, in Hinesville, For information, call Morenike Clarke, enrollment and retention specialist, at 912-408-3024, ext. 6009, or email him at mclarke@savannahtech.edu.
