Student earns academic scholarship

Donnie Pulliam, a 2013 honor graduate from Liberty County High School, received a $1,000 scholarship from the National Society of High School Scholars on Dec. 7 in Atlanta.
Pulliam received a check from President/founder Claes Nobel, whose family founded the Nobel Peace Prize. According to its website, the NSHSS was established to highlight accomplishments of high school/college students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, community commitment and academic success.
Pulliam, currently a freshman at Morehouse College in Atlanta, spoke to new society members about planning for the future, academics, and the benefits of scholarships. He is the son of Monica Robertson and James Payno of Midway.
