Students earn academic honors

Mary E. Wilson, daughter of Samuel and Dwinda Wilson of Walthourville, was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society for First Year Students at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University on March 29. Mary is a 2014 graduate of Liberty County High School, where she served as president of the National Honor Society. Mary is a computer-engineering major at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro.
Founded in 1924, Alpha Lambda Delta is an honor society for students in their first year at an institution of higher education. Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes those students who have succeeded in maintaining a 3.5 or higher grade-point average and are in the top 20 percent of their class in their first year.

Lee recognized at ABAC
Jacob P. Lee of Midway is among those with honor status who will be recognized  during Honors Day ceremonies today in Gressette Gym at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Students receiving distinguished honor status are those who have completed 45 or more academic semester hours at ABAC with an overall grade-point average of 3.75 or higher; superior honor students are those who have completed 15-44 academic semester hours at ABAC with an overall GPA of 3.75 or higher; and honor status goes to those who have completed 15 or more academic semester hours at ABAC with an overall GPA of 3.2 to 3.74.
