Donnie Pulliam, a 2013 Liberty County High School graduate, has been on a paid internship this summer through the FDIC’s Financial Management Scholars Program in Boston.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. grants college students the opportunity to work in various regions of the nation. Scholars work with FDIC employees in their assigned field offices to ensure that banks are following laws. A news release says the agency seeks employees with strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Scholars attended a one-week orientation in Washington followed by 10 weeks on the job working out of one of the FDIC’s field offices.

Pulliam worked in Washington, Delaware, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Besides a stipend and salary, a full-time position as a financial institution specialist after graduation is offered to the scholars.

Pulliams is a senior at Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he is majoring in political science and economics. He is the son of James and Monica Robertson-Payno of Midway.
