Waldo Pafford Kids Care Club aids project

During Kids Care Week 2007 (Oct. 21-27), the Waldo Pafford Kids Care Club participated in a volunteer project under the national Kids Care Week theme of “Bringing Good Moments.”
During this volunteer activity, children of deployed soldiers and civilians brought good moments to disabled veterans. These children, whose ages range from 6 to 11 years old, assembled GOOD-Eat Care Packages for them.
The club’s project is about troops and veterans. The club is also planning a program for disabled veterans sometime in November.
The Waldo Pafford Kids Care Club is one of more than 1,400 Kids Care Clubs nationwide. Kids Care Clubs is an organization dedicated to developing compassion and a spirit of volunteering in elementary and middle school children, and Kids Care Week is a time each year dedicated to the power of kids to help others in their community and the world.
Throughout the nation, clubs have been working to “Bring Good Moments” to people in need.
Quaker, the premier partner of Kids Care Clubs, provided funding for mini-grants and providing free Quaker product for Clubs to use in their Kids Care Week projects.
The Bringing Good Moments projects are designed to:
• Educate youth about the needs in one of the four issue areas: homelessness, literacy, seniors and troops and veterans.
• Enable clubs to “bring good moments” to people in need through a meaningful, hands-on service project.
• Demonstrate to youth that by bringing good moments to others, they are developing skills and nurturing values that will last them a lifetime.
Kids Care Week culminated on Make a Difference Day on Oct. 27, which is a national day of doing good works, sponsored by Points of Light & Hands On Network and USA Weekend.
