Youth group offering tutoring

Scott’s All*Stars offers free tutoring from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Bethesda Church.
The service will concentrate on enhancing the math and English skills of low-income students in fifth through eighth grades who live in the county.
Scott’s All*Stars has always offered this service to the players in its program, but founder Marcus Scott said he felt compelled to expand the service.
“Statistics have proven that there is a correlation between low-income students and low performance in the classroom,” Scott said. “The founding principles of Scott’s All*Stars are education, civic leadership, college readiness and service. As the founder, I feel that by offering free tutoring to those who may need it most yet may not be able to afford it, we’re doing just that — servicing and educating our community while making sure they are ready for college.”
The tutoring services will be provided in a partnership with A+ Plus Educational Services, Scott’s Educational Services and Scott’s All*Stars.  Tutoring also is available for students who are not in the program or those who are not considered low-income for $15 an hour.
Seats are limited. An appointment must be made to begin services.  To receive the services or to learn more about Scott’s All*Stars program, call 655-4371 or 321-9945.
