Eleven Black Men to hold 25th annual scholarship banquet

The Eleven Black Men of Liberty County will hold its 25th annual scholarship banquet at Club Stewart on Fort Stewart Saturday, March 9. A reception will begin at 6:15 p.m., followed by the banquet at 7 p.m.

Dr. Kevin Dougherty, EdD, associate provost and dean of students at Oregon State University is this year’s keynote speaker.

Dr. Dougherty was born and raised in Hinesville, Georgia and a graduate of Liberty County High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Georgia Southern University, a Master of Science in Justice Administration from the University of Louisville, and earned his Doctorate of Education from the University of Arizona. His parents, Melvin “Doc” Dougherty and Faye “His Queen” Dougherty, still live in Hinesville. His brothers, Jason “JD” Dougherty and Melvin “Leo” Dougherty are both graduates of Bradwell Institute.
