Fort Stewart, Hunter Army Airfield prepare for Hurricane Dorian

(FORT STEWART, Ga.) – Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield and the 3rd Infantry Division leadership are taking appropriate precautions in preparing for Hurricane Dorian.   The hurricane will affect our area with high winds and significant amounts of rain. Flash flooding and tornadoes are also possible. 

Stewart-Hunter’s status as of 9:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2: Stewart-Hunter will operate on a reduced-manning status for this evening. Key and essential personnel will work as directed by their supervisors or chains of command. 

All service members need to contact their commanders for guidance on release procedures. 

All Soldiers and civilian employees who are not affected by mandatory evacuation orders will report for work Tuesday at normal times or as directed by commanders   At this time, the senior commander has signed orders allowing active duty Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians displaced by mandatory evacuations to receive possible monetary reimbursement. 

The installation community is encouraged to download the Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield app for Android and iOS to keep up-to-date on the hurricane. 

Below is a listing of open and closed services across the installation.

 DODEA SCHOOLS -Closed thru Friday.

ARMY AIR FORCE EXCHANGE SERVICES -Fort Stewart facilities are open Tuesday. -Hunter Corner Express pumps will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The store will open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. -The Hunter gas kiosk is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

DEFENSE COMMISSARY AGENCY -Normal hours Tuesday at Fort Stewart.

WINN ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL -All outpatient services have been canceled today through Friday at Winn ACH, Richmond Hill Medical Home, Hawks Troop Medical Clinic, Marne TMC, and Tuttle Army Health Clinic. -The Hunter pharmacy will be open tomorrow 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday for refills only. -The PX pharmacy (building 419) and the Winn Army Community Hospital pharmacy will be open 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, for refills only. -At this time, the Winn ACH ER will remain open for emergent services. -Winn ACH staff members whose residence is not in a mandatory evacuation zone are expected to report to work tomorrow at 0700. The Stay Behind Element and Critical Workforce staff are to report to work tomorrow at 0700.

DENTAL CLINICS -Dental Clinic #1 at 351 W. 6th Street will be open 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Sick call is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. -Dental Clinic #5, building 1440 at Hunter Army Airfield, will be closed. The clinic will reopen no earlier than Friday. -All dental clinics at Stewart and Hunter will be closed Wednesday and Tuesday. - If any Soldier has a dental emergency and conditions permit please, go to the emergency room at Winn Army Community Hospital and the on-call dentist will be notified.

Open: -Jordan 24-7 Fitness Center

DIRECTORATE OF HUMAN RESOURCES -The SFC Paul R. Smith Army Education Center is closed and college classes cancelled. Services open on Tuesday: -Transition -Reassignment -Out-Processing -ASAP -Education counseling -SFL/TAP -OMPC -DEERS -ID cards -FOIA -Education testing -ARIMS logistics.

ACCESS CONTROL -Visitor Control Center closed Tuesday and Wednesday. -Gates 1, 4, and 5 open. -All other gates closed by 6 p.m., Wednesday.

MARNE RECEPTION CENTER -The Marne Reception Center will remain open and maintain normal operations. -Inbound Soldiers who have established residence in the local area that are under evacuation orders will obey local authorities and are asked to contact the MRC duty desk at 912-767-0115 for accountability purposes. -In the event of an evacuation, the MRC will remain open until the installation closes to essential personnel only. At that time, the duty desk will activate an automated message detailing the situation and provide alternate points of contact. Additionally, signs will be posted on the front and back doors stating that those wishing to sign in are asked to contact aforementioned phone numbers for accountability and guidance. -Soldiers with a report date during a mandatory evacuation will be administratively arrived to Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield and will report one day after the evacuation is lifted.  -Soldiers unable to report to MRC by the date on their leave form as a result of the storm will not be penalized or charged additional leave. -MRC has identified personnel and equipment on standby to transport MRC Soldiers and Families without the ability to transport themselves to shelter in the event of an evacuation of Fort Stewart.   

HOUSING AND BARRACKS TOWN HALLS -The housing and barracks town halls at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield have been postponed to a date to be determined.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES Canceled: -PWOC board meeting -Pastoral update brief -Youth group meeting -PWOC -DRE Bible study -Daily mass on Wednesday and Thursday -Gospel choir

Open: -Daily mass on Tuesday

ACTIONS TO TAKE  Do not travel unless necessary. Call 911 if you see downed power lines.

We are asking the community to take the time to help clear debris from the streets. Please move debris to a location where it will not flow back into drainage systems.
