Forum set for Thurs.
NAACP

Barring last minute changes, incumbent Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes and challenger William Bowman will face off Thursday night in an online forum.

Sponsored by the Liberty County NAACP, the Coastal Georgia Minority Chamber, Inc., and the Coastal Courier, the forum can be watched online from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Liberty NAACP Facebook page and also will be shared on the Courier’s Facebook page.

There is no charge to watch and all are invited.

The nonpartisan event is the second of three hosted by the local branch of the NAACP. Thursday’s forum will also include Marcus Scott IV and Dr. Joe Kelly Sr., both of whom are seeking the District 2 school board seat; and Superior Court Clerk Linda Dixon Thompson and challenger Lisa Artis.

Last week, candidates for Liberty County commission chairman, chief magistrate and District 6 appeared. Next week, the forum will include candidates for Congress and the Georgia General Assembly.

Print coverage of all three forums will be included in upcoming issues.
