Earlier report

Highway 84 is shutdown in all directions between Dunlevie Road and Kent Road in Allenhurst due to a traffic accident with a spill.

A fuel tanker and a cement truck were involved in an accident that caused turpentine to spill on the road.

The accident occurred around 11:30 am today.

According to GSP Trooper Markus White a cement truck was following too closely to the fuel tanker when they collided. The impact breached the fuel tanker causing the spillage of several hundreds of gallons of turpentine. The cement truck overturned. No injuries were reported.

The Liberty County Emergency Management Agency issued an alert notifying that anyone living within a one mile radius of the railroad crossing at US Hwy 84 in Allenhurst should either be prepared to shelter-in-place, if they feel safe at home, or evacuate.

Highway 84 is to be avoided in that area. Law Enforcement is preset at all intersections and will assist anyone wishing to evacuate the area if needed.
