The city of Hinesville recently hired its first public relations manager.
Krystal R. Britton said her role is to help the city communicate with its residents and promote the city.
“I am very pleased to announce that we hired Ms. Krystal Britton as public relations manager for the city of Hinesville,” City Manager Billy Edwards said. “Ms. Britton brings to our organization the capability to ensure that we have good communication with our citizenry and with those who are interested in our community.”
He said the city understands the importance of effective communication between residents and local government.
Britton received her bachelor’s degree in May from Florida State University’s college of communication. The city of Hinesville hired her at $40,386.
As a student, she gained experience in the corporate, education, health-care and public affairs sectors.
Britton said she looks forward to working in local government.
“I’ve been preparing for this position since the 11th grade,” Britton said. “I always knew that I wanted to work in public relations, but it wasn’t until my junior year at Liberty County High School that I realized I wanted to work with local government. I enjoy the local level because that is where you can see officials get out in the community and really connect with the people they are serving.”
She said she is impressed by what the city has to offer.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better job,” Britton said. “I was born and raised in Liberty County, and I am blessed to be able to come back to help tell about the wonderful things the city of Hinesville is doing.”
Britton is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the City-County Communications and Marketing Association, the Florida Public Relations Association and Lambda Pi Eta National Communications Honor Society.
